I WRITE in response to the preferred options leaflet for East Thurrock which in my opinion is over complicated and unclear - which may or may not be the intention.

Having spoken to a number of residents in this area I have heard nothing but trepidation as to the scale of the plans and most people starting to consider the option of leaving the area.

The total lack of consultation with Gable Hall School’s Head as detailed in the Thurrock Gazette completely sums up the whole issue.

There is no choice for the residents of Corringham and Stanford.

As a result I decided to make some rough calculations based on the 2001 census, average occupancy of 2.5 people per house, the growth estimates and the DC’s house building exercise.

It showed the DC is increasing the size of the population in this area by 10 per cent. If you were to do the same exercise in London (population 7.5m) you would be creating 750,000 new residents.

On top of this the DC proposes to introduce 14,000 jobs , so if you take 14,000 people + 1,663 new residents = 15,663 extra people in and around the area - almost double the current population of Stanford and Corringham.

I would like to know how the current infrastructure can handle this with no new roads, no new schools and no new doctors.

Many of the people who live in this area moved out from East London to escape the crowded streets, crime and find some open spaces.

Now the DC seems intent on bringing East London back to them.
