TILBURY upset the odds to beat promotion-chasing Wroxham and record their sixth win in seven matches.

The hosts hadn’t lost in five matches but were well beaten by visiting Dockers, who should have gone ahead inside the first two minutes.

Francis Babalola rushed through early on but Elliot Pride was equal to his effort. Tilbury were looking good and Neil Richmond linked up well with Emiel Aiken soon after with his effort blocked behind.

And Gary Henty’s side scored the goal their play deserved when Babalola burst down the right and played in Tom Wood.

The midfielder let the ball run across his body and shooting across the stopper for a superb goal.

The goal gave the hosts the wake-up call they needed, with Jack Garrod denied by the in-form Jack Giddens.

Steve Taylor cleared an effort off the line from the exciting Babalola, before Dan White flicked for Remy Gordon to hit the crossbar and away from danger.

After the half-time whistle, Wroxham pushed forward and Babalola should have made it 2-0 when he was denied by Price on the goal-line, after scuffing an effort into the stopper’s arms.

Taylor hit the woodwork again for Wroxham with Giddens beaten and, despite the pressure mounting in the closing stages, it was the Dockers that held on for the win and rise to 12th in the league.

"I asked the boys to do three simple jobs in the game and they carried these out superbly,” said Tilbury manager Gary Henty. “Some of the football we played was brilliant and the result shows how far the boys have come over the last few months.

“Competition for places in the side is keeping the whole squad on their toes and another clean sheet really pleases me.”
