Tilbury 0, Thamesmead Town 1
MARK Vaughan’s Dockers suffered their third league defeat on the bounce at the hands of Thamesmead Town.
Despite starting the game well on a heavy pitch and in the bitterly cold temperatures that struck the borough over the weekend, the visitors scored the game’s only goal in the 21st minute, as Enoch Adjei got on the end of a cross before shooting under James Marrable.
As half-time approached, Aaron Waters came close to levelling for the hosts, but Steve Good, on his return to the club, and Marrable had to be at their best to prevent Town doubling their lead.
The Thamesmead defence was resolute in the second as Dockers pushed for an equaliser. Danny Smith, Sherwin Stanley and Tom Wraight all came close for Tilbury, but they couldn’t find the equaliser.
On Tuesday night, they faced Basildon United in the Essex Senior Cup, in a welcome break from the league where their early season form has taken a dive.
