Thurrock 2–1 AFC Hornchurch
From Ship Lane
Ryman One North
A LATE Lewwis Spence goal handed Thurrock a crucial victory over title rivals AFC Hornchurch.
The marauding midfielder netted as the clock ticked into injury-time, after it appeared Fleet had had two points snatched away.
Fleet were thankful to Joe Christou’s first-half goal for a half-time lead, as he netted after being played in by Spence, against the team that started the evening two points above them in the standings.
Leon McKenzie hit an equaliser just 11 minutes from time but it wasn’t enough.
Spence got the winner to put Fleet in a strong position going forwards, with games in hand on the rest of the play-off contenders.
Thurrock: Madden, Morgan, Duncan, Toner, Sutton, Clark, Christou, Spence, Goode (Francis), Wall, Cowley
