Heybridge Swifts 2-4 Thurrock

From Scraley Road

Ryman One North

THURROCK took the points in a feisty battle with Heybridge Swifts, with Ross Wall netting a fine brace.

Ross Gleed had handed the visitors the lead against struggling Swifts, netting impressively after just eight minutes.

And 10 minutes later it was 2-0. Keke Orth, who has been a fine signing by manager Mark Stimson, scored with Ross Wall making it three with only 27 minutes on the clock.

No more goals were netted before the break, although two strikes in a matter of minutes gave the game an entirely different complexion.

But Wall scored with eight minutes to go to secure the points, and Stimson was delighted with the result.

“It’s a very good three points away from home," he said. "Our first-half performance was first class and we went in 3-0 up. The second-half was still good and to win 4-2 away from home is a decent result and keeps us in touch with the teams above us.”

Fleet sit in seventh after the result, four points off top spot.
