Peterborough Panthers 36, Lakeside Hammers 36
A SERIOUS crash that left Hammers captain Adam Shields in hospital brought an early end to Thursday evening's meeting at Peterborough, due to racing restrictions at Alwalton which meant a curfew had to be implemented.

Shields suffered a collapsed lung ans broken ribs, as well as a back injury in the crash at the end of an eventful meeting which saw both teams minus regular team members.

Lakeside were missing Jonas Davidsson and Joonas Kylmakorpi through injury whilst Panthers were missing the unavailable Ryan Sullivan.

The meeting itself was very close with Lakeside taking the opening heat. Lakeside reserve Ricky Kling won heat two by showing he remembered the quickest way round the showground and going on to score 13+2 on the night.

Panthers pulled back the deficit in heat three with Bjerre getting the first of his four wins. Bjerre outpaced Jonsson in heat five to edge Panthers ahead. Lakeside finally pulled level in an exciting finish to heat eight.

Lukas Dryml powered his way to what looked like a resounding win only to get a puncture going into turn four on the last lap which allowed Kling to pass him swiftly followed by Vissing and Lanham who both avoided colliding with Dryml and all three headed for the line together with Vissing getting there ahead of Lanham.

Drama was to follow in heat nine with Zabik taking an alarming looking fall on the fourth turn and the meeting was held up whilst he was attended to on the track. Bjerre won the re-run to keep the scores level. Lakeside moved ahead in heat 10 and with heat 11 being drawn it looked like a tight finish was on the cards.

Heat 12 turned out to be the final heat of the night when Shields entered the fourth turn after passing Bjerre along the back straight and picked up and ended up in almost the same place as Zabik had fallen.

The meeting was then held up for almost 50 minutes to allow medical assistance for the injured Shields.

With the allotted time running out the re-run was eventually won by Bjerre with Kling holding off a spirited ride from Vissing to level the score at 36-36. Both team managers agreed to end the meeting and the result stands.
