GRAYS ATHLETIC 0, WHITEHAWK 1
BLUES cup hopes were ended at Rush Green on Tuesday night, at the hands of Ryman Premier League opponents Whitehawk.
The two sides had drawn 1-1 in Brighton at the weekend, with 17-year-old Dan Fry forcing a replay with an equaliser on only his second senior appearance for the club.
After a blunt first half, which saw Grays create very few chances and Jed Wallace going closest for Hawks, James Fraser scored the game’s only goal in the 46th minute.
Joao Carlos spurned the Blues’ best chance of an equaliser in a stop-start game that saw the referee dish out eight yellow cards.
Blues attentions turn to the league again on Saturday, where they face Maldon and Tiptree in a “top-of-the-table” clash in the north of the county.
Grays are on a rich vein of form in Ryman Division One North, having won their last four league games.
