East Thurrock United 4, Potters Bar Town 1 In-form Rocks are moving closer to cementing a place in the end-of-season play-offs following this latest success.

They all but killed off their visitors by going into a comfortable 3-0 lead before half-time.

Divisional top scorer Sam Higgins got proceedings rolling on 15 minutes when the ball flew off the back of his head and into the net as he stooped to meet a near post corner.

On 40 minutes it was 2-0 with Chris Duffy and Louis Collins combining to allow Max Cornhill to score at the second attempt after Adam McColl had saved his first effort. Kye Ruel was then left unchallenged to head a third over the onrushing McColl.

The visitors did pull back a goal after the break through Joe O’Brien, but Rocks had the last word when Higgins fired home his second from close range.

The Rookery Hill outfit, who moved up to third with this success and still believe they can edge Concord for second spot, continue their efforts at lowly Ware tomorrow.
