The preview: East Thurrock United can all but secure a top five spot if results go their way tomorrow afternoon.

Rocks head to Wingate & Finchley before a final three matches against three of the current bottom six, although only three points will be enough as John Coventry’s side continue their outside bid to be champions.

Booking a home semi-final seems a more likely goal at the stage of the season, although Rocks’ away record this term has been superb, with just four defeats from their 21 matches on the road so far.

It has been a disappointing end to the season for Wingate, who harboured play-off hopes of their own for parts of the season but are now set to fight it out for a top half finish.

Only a late Tom Wraight goal secured a point in the reverse fixture.

What he said: Rocks boss John Coventry said: “Tom Wraight got the goal in the last game and he has been excellent for us this year but so have a lot of others. We go there looking for a win after the last two results. It is not essential after the two wins but it would be nice.

“It is a good pitch and Wingate like to play their home football, and it will suit our game as well. We are good away from home and that has been the case this season.

“Joe Ellul and Ryan Sammons are available and if they get bookings we will re-asses it after that. Both are close to suspensions but both are important players.

“This is my fourth play-off in nine games and they are always difficult and momentum can be important, so we will do all we can to win tomorrow.”
