MET POLICE V EAST THURROCK / RYMAN PREMIER LEAGUE

The preview: East Thurrock’s title challenge bid has stalled somewhat in recent weeks after just one point was taken from the last two matches.

Rocks sit seven points behind leaders Hampton & Richmond Borough with just six games remaining, with their best bet seemingly trying to secure a home semi-final for what looks set to be a play-off place.

But with the chasers having games in hand, this will be a match John Coventry will certainly expect three points from, with Met Police seemingly with little to play for in the closing weeks of the season.

Met have won just once in their last 10 matches in the league.

What he said: Rocks boss John Coventry said: “Realistically we have made life hard for ourselves in terms of winning the league but the aim was always play-offs and hopefully we can achieve that.

“We are very good away from home and I don’t have fear about going away and that is the case tomorrow. We need a minimum of three wins to secure play-offs I believe and we want to take a step closer to that against Met Police.

“It is a difficult one to call as we always seem to either play well or get smashed against them. I am not expecting to just go there and get three points at any rate.

“Last week there were a number of illnesses and injuries and we didn’t train Tuesday so they could recover. So hopefully they will be OK.”
