Leatherhead 2–1 East Thurrock United
From Fetcham Grove
Ryman Premier League
EAST Thurrock United lost ground on the Ryman Premier League leaders as they went down 2-1 against Leatherhead.
Rocks hadn’t lost a match on the road since the middle of October but, despite taking an early lead, they couldn’t take anything from the match against a Leatherhead side who have largely underperformed this season.
It started so well for Rocks when Sam Higgins netted his 39th goal of another extraordinary season from the penalty spot after just three minutes.
But that lead was short-lived as the home side pulled level.
Ten minutes later, Frannie Collin scored the equaliser and Leatherhead played strongly for the rest of the half.
However, the decisive goal didn’t come until 10 minutes before the end.
It was former Maidstone United striker Collin that scored what turned out to be the winner as he finished neatly and ensured the points stayed in Surrey.
Rocks drop five points off leaders Hampton & Richmond Borough but remain strong favourites to finish in the top five.
