Hungerford Town 1-1 East Thurrock United
FA Trophy First Qualifying Round
From Bulpit Lane
EAST Thurrock United will do battle with Hungerford Town once again on Tuesday - only days before their FA Cup First Round tie at Hartlepool United.
Reece Harris’s first half leveler was enough to bring John Coventry’s side level after they conceded to an early strike by the Southern Premier Division team.
However, the draw will be played on Tuesday – only four days before Rocks’ trip to Hartlepool.
Not even two minutes had been played before Charles Mpi capitalized on a defensive error to tuck home underneath David Hughes in the Rocks goal.
The visitors almost drew level immediately after a slip but they only had to wait 10 minutes for their equaliser.
Harris went into a challenge with Hungerford stopper Paul Strudley but the referee gave no foul and the goal stood.
Hughes was at full stretch to deny the hosts a half-time lead and a couple of late saves from the home keeper denied Rocks the win and the replay they so desperately wanted to avoid.
East Thurrock United: Hughes, Stephen, Wood, Peddie, Witherspoon, Goodacre, Parmenter, Bryant (Paxman), Smith, Higgins, Harris (Sammons)
