Harlow Town 4-1 Aveley

A STRONG second-half performance was enough for Harlow Town against Aveley.

Liam Nash had levelled for the Millers shortly before half-time but they couldn’t hold out after the interval.

The Hawks sit third in the standings after the result, and they started the better of the two.

Junior Dadson was denied by goalkeeper James Marrable in what was the first clear cut opportunity of the afternoon.

But, shortly after the half hour mark, Dadson did get the beating of the goalkeeper. Alex Read and the striker combined with the latter tapping in from close range.

But Aveley struck five minutes before half-time to equalise. Nash was played through and he composedly found the net.

There was a moment of controversy shortly before the interval, when Ibrahima Sonko appeared to foul Nash when clean through, only for the referee to blow for half-time as the offence was committed.

Aveley had a golden chance to take the lead 10 minutes after the break when they were awarded a penalty.

But Arian Retkoceri sliced it horribly over the bar and 60 seconds later Harlow had the lead, when Read scored.

Sonko made it 3-1 after 67 minutes and Fabion Simms got another soon after to complete a comfortable afternoon’s work.
