Aveley 0, Billericay 6 AVELEY’S survival hopes have taken a near fatal blow.

They were demolished by champions-elect Billericay on Monday night.

It was goalless for the opening 40 minutes as the hosts dug in resolutely.

But the visitors broke the deadlock when Jay May was fouled in the box and Glenn Poole converted from the spot.

And their second came immediately from the restart.

Former Billericay man Paul Shave gave away the ball cheaply and May broke away to finish.

Chris Wild ended any realistic hopes of a comeback early in the second half when he headed home a Dave Collis free-kick.

May added a fourth soon after just to add to the misery of the Millers bench and the home fans. The goal came from Harrison Chatting’s pass, and then he completed his hat-trick just a few minutes later.

Poole added a late sixth to end a truely dreadful night for Aveley, whose poor goal-difference means defeat at home to Harrow on Saturday could see them essentially relegated.

On Saturday, the Millers went down 2-0 at Kingstonian.

The K’s won with a brace from the division’s top scorer Bobby Traynor who showed again why he’s the hottest property in the Ryman Premier League.
