SPEEDWAY: The Lakeside Hammers team at the Arena-Essex Raceway for their home Elite League match against the Belle Vue Aces on Friday, 1st July, will include both Ricky Wells and Ulrich Ostergaard as both Stuart Robson and Peter Ljung are unavailable.
Wells has already ridden successfully twice for the Hammers this year and featured in one of the races of the season when winning Heat 14 in the match against Birmingham at the end of April in his first appearance for the Club at the Essex based Club’s Raceway. He then followed that up with another storming performance at Coventry, whilst Ostergaard has shown his liking for the Hammers Raceway as recently as three weeks ago when he scored 11 points for Birmingham, which saw him win his first two races.
These two riders replace Peter Ljung, who will be on route to the Grand Prix Qualification Semi Final in Daugavpils, Latvia the following day, and Stuart Robson, who will be racing for his Premier League side Newcastle on Friday. Robson’s Doubling Up partner, Kevin Doolan, was initially due to make his debut for the Hammers against Belle Vue before his Premier League club, Ipswich, had their Cup match with Scunthorpe rained off a fortnight ago and it has now been rearranged for this Friday.
The Lakeside Hammers team for this Friday’s match against Belle Vue will be (in alphabetical order):- Robert Mear (Great Britain), Kauko Nieminen (Finland), Ulrich Ostergaard (Denmark), Lee Richardson – Captain (Great Britain), Rider Replacement for Adam Shields (Australia), Piotr Swiderski (Poland) and Ricky Wells (United States of America).
