ATHLETICS: IN a blistering Horndon 10K the Thurrock Harriers team regained the team trophy after losing out to Billericay Striders for the last couple of years. Leading the Harriers home was 9th placed David Johnson, with John Green 11th. Martyn Staines return to form in 15th and John Russell closed in at 17th.
Other Harriers finishers: Rob Russel 24th; Justin Renda 29th (PB); Jason Syrett 30th; Lewis Sartin 31st; Sarah Eves 100th; Vic Peacock 102nd; Michelle Hernederson 227th. Only 406 of the 480 starters finished due to the extreme heat which meant several runners had to be attended by first aiders. In the recent Hyde Park 5K Scott Rice finished 9th in 17.34.
