BOWLS: TILBURY Indoor Bowling Club members are enjoying an excellent run in the sport’s National Competitions at present.

They are already through in three competitions and just one game away in two more.

Sue Wild has reached the last 32, in the Warner Leisure Hotels National Champion of Champions event, and will first play Lauren Copeland, from Thornaby IBC, at their Lakeside venue at 8pm on Friday February 4.

Andy Swann and Elaine Scarborough are through to the final stages of the National Mixed Pairs, last 32, and meet C Higgins and partner from Hartlepool, on February 11 at Northampton IBC.

Sue Wild, Andy Swann, Graham Pereira and Elaine Scarborough, in the National Mixed Fours, will also be playing at Northampton in the last 32, on February 16.

They will play A Kendrick and team from Tye Green IBC, Harlow, almost a local opponent!

Jenny Barnes, Sue Wild and Carole Riley are through to the last 32 of the Ladies National Triples, and play a team from Colchester.

The winners of this match will go through to the finals, the last 16 only going to Melton IBC.

Tilbury’s Elaine Scarborough is at the same stage in the Ladies National Singles, and will play Isabel Morley from Ipswich, before January 30, at Colchester. The date is yet to be confirmed.

But a win is needed for her to proceed to Melton in early March for the next stage.

In the Ladies National Fours last 32 match, Jenny Barnes, Trudi White, Maureen Roberts and Jan Byford unfortunately lost to an Essex County team skipped by Sue Edwards Tilbury still have ladies in the County competitions, Sue Wild and Elaine Scarborough won against Heather Wood and Edith Harvey in the second round.

The Havering ladies conceded at 16 ends, 23 shots behind.
