RYMAN ONE NORTH: The long-running saga of Tilbury’s bid to win last season’s East Anglian Cup rumbles on.
It looked like coming to an end when Halstead Town eventually won their long-delayed semi-final with Brantham this week to earn the right to visit the Dockers in the final.
That final date was set for next Tuesday - but is now off as Halstead have instead been ordered to play a Ridgeons Eastern Counties League Cup tie with Great Yarmouth that night.
Now it looks as though last year’s final will be delayed until March - a farcical situation when one considers that Tilbury reached the final on May 5th last year with victory over Royston.
In fact it looks as though Tilbury, who are hoping for a silverware double having won last season’s Isthmian League Cup, will be playing this term’s East Anglian first round match with Stansted before last campaign’s final date.
On Saturday the Dockers, currently 10th, look to continue their climb up the table with victory in a tricky visit to Wingate and Finchley, who are three places above them, three points clear from a game less.
