Horndon, more specifically Andrew Hilditch and Ed Powell did something spectacular on Sunday.

From their allotted 40 overs Horndon managed a monumental 308-2 (against Island Taveners) with Hilditch finishing on 124 and Powell amassing a brutal, undefeated 140 in huge 227 run stand.

It was also Powell’s maiden hundred in all forms of cricket.

The only other batsman to get a go were Ryan Madder and Ben Knowles whom both got 16.

As to be expected there was some horrific bowling figures for the Taverners.

In reply Taveners only could manage 90 with Hammoned 19 and skipper Eve scoring 18. Mark Wills took 4-10 with Jack Marson, veteran Ian Joyce, Matt Yates and Joe Joyce all chipping in with a wicket apiece.

Skipper Danny Joyce said 'it was an awesome performance by Powell and Hilditch and was pretty savage at times, but Taveners never let themselves down and stuck at it in the field very well.'
