BELHUS and Stanford-le-Hope won their first Shepherd Neame Essex League cricket matches of the season at the weekend.
Hainault & Clayhall were seen off by Belhus in Division One, who were six wicket winners on the day.
The away side scored 214/5, Matt Doran taking 4-52 for Belhus, before Joe Joyce (86) and Danny Joyce (65) saw the hosts home in 33.5 overs.
Stanford were three wicket winners against Basildon & Pitsea in Division Three, after the latter scored just 168 with the bat.
Kalum Rasika Sampath took 4-38 before the same man struck 55 not out to see Stanford across the line.
In Division One, Orsett & Thurrock lost by five wickets against Woodford Wells.
William Gibbon scored 81 and Daniel Laird hit 52 not out but the total was not enough.
In Division Two, Oakfield Parkonians beat Horndon-on-the-Hill by 95 runs.
The hosts scored just 177 - Jeff West taking 4-50 - but only West (47) performed with the bat as no other Horndon batsman reached double figures.
