MOTORSPORT: AmDTuning.com with Cobra Exhausts team took a hat-trick of points-scoring finishes as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship headed for Rockingham for round eight.

The West Thurrock-based team had impressed at the circuit 12 months ago, with drivers Ollie Jackson and Ant Whorton-Eales confident of pushing for top 15 finishes.

Jackson qualified on the seventh row of the grid, with his best performance of the weekend coming in race three.

Having secured 14th and 12th place finishes, 33-year-old Jackson narrowly missed out on a top 10 spot as he closed in 11th. He sits eighth in the Independents’ Trophy with two rounds of the season still to run.

“We’ve learnt a lot that I think will benefit us when we go to Silverstone for the next round, and have brought home three points finishes,” he said.

Whorton-Eales’s impressive pace largely went unrewarded, with incidents in races two and three preventing him from scoring any points.

Qualifying 19th on the grid for race one, and finished 18th, Whorton-Eales was working his way up towards the points positions in race two when he was forced off track - although he did battle his way back to 18th again by the finish.

“It’s another weekend where the end results don’t reflect the performance in the car,” he said, having failed to finish race three. “It’s a shame for me and also for the team and I hope my luck will change at Silverstone.”
