ORSETT & Thurrock eased away from the relegation places following another excellent result - this time defeating second-placed Billericay in SNEL Division One.

A half century from Nawaz Ahmad Jan (53), plus good contributions from Amar Ayub (46) and Kirk Laws (45) helped Orsett to 261/7.

And Billericay fell 70 runs short in their chase, with Ross Poulton (3-42) the pick of the bowlers.

Elsewhere in the division, Gidea Park and Romford edged home to victory with three balls remaining against Belhus.

Joe Joyce (87) and Danny Joyce (41) helped Belhus to 205/8, but the rest of the order fell short. Kasi Hoq (54) was the main threat as Gidea Park lost seven wickets in response.

Matt Doran took 3-66 for Belhus.

Stanford le Hope’s Robert Page fell four runs short of a century, but played a major part as his side beat Epping by 129 runs in Division Three.

Page and Matthew Higgins took three wickets each, with Epping all out for 157.
