ORSETT & Thurrock returned to winning ways in Shepherd Neame Essex League Division One with a resounding 70-run win over South Woodford.
Nawaz Ahmad Jan made a terrific 100 and Paul Bennett contributed 66 as Orsett posted 321-7 in their 50 overs.
And a stunning performance with the ball from Shahid Khan saw Orsett over the line, as he took a stunning 7-32 in just 9.5 overs.
The result leaves Orsett seventh in the standings.
In Division Two, Horndon-on-the-Hill won their first match of the season, beating promotion-chasing Loughton by 75 runs.
Horndon were put into bat and Tom Stone made the most of it, striking 97 before a middle order collapse.
All out for 217, the game was very much alive but Jeff West ended Loughton’s hopes with a terrific display with the ball (7-34).
In Division Three, Stanford-le-Hope were walloped by 110 runs against fellow promotion hopefuls Harlow Town.
Neil Gladwin (109 not out) helped Harlow to 288-8, but Stanford never came close to the total, and they were dismissed in 33.1 overs.
