A GRAYS club continues to enjoy success after three of its students emerged victorious from the London Open, plus a victory further afield.

Sophie Pasztor, eight, won gold while Napsugar Pasztor, ten, and Boglarka Pasztor, 13, both gained bronze for Grays Judo Club.

A couple of weeks later it was the younger players’ turn to prove themselves.

Five children from the club travelled to Greenwich for an under-11s competition and they shone.

Gracjan Janik, nine, won gold, and there were three silver medals for Andrzej Szachraj, Patryk Ciupinski and Seni Oluwa, all seven.

Teni Oluwa, seven, won bronze.

And their coach Sensei Iurie Burazer said he was very proud of their achievement on the day.

The success series continued when four judokas from Grays took part in a well-known European competition in the Netherlands.

Gracjan Janik, Napsugar Pasztor, Hunor Pasztor, 12, and Boglarka Pasztor competed in the 43 International Tournament in Venray.

More than 1,600 players from more than 20 countries competed, and the Grays club picked up another gold.

In a top-class competition, the youngsters fought with great spirit in very tough groups.

Napsugar proved her talent once again as she won gold, while Boglarka came in ninth place.

“These are very promising results for the club as they are looking forward to the next challenge,” said a club spokesperson.
