JUDO: A talented student at a Grays judo club has been crowned London Open champion.
Sophie Pasztor, only eight years old, travelled with senior members of Grays Judo Club to the London Open, along with other junior members.
The competition, which is the UK’s biggest open grade competition, hosted a large number of competitors from all ages and grades.
And she was the best of the bunch, as she fought off the competition to secure top spot on the podium.
And mentor Zsolt Pasztor said he was incredibly proud of her efforts.
“She has done incredibly well,” he said.
“To become a London Open Champion is a very special achievement.
“Our small club is really proud of what she has done.
“It’s an amazing start for her competitive career as she is so young.
“She is a good example for the other youngsters in the club to aim high and train hard for it.”
