TEENAGE boxing talent Kieran Desmond has continued his rise to prominence after qualifying for another national final.

The 17-year-old, who boxes at Chadwell St Mary Amateur Boxing Club will compete in the National Youth Championship finals in Rotherham, having already reached the National Association Of Boys & Girls Clubs final.

Desmond, who has triumphed in the Essex and Eastern counties finals, will now be competing against the top boxers in the country who have come through their respective regions to fight for the under-52kg national youth title.

Team mate Jay Healy, 17, came through three tough bouts in three weeks but didn’t get the decision in a close contest against a boxer from Hampshire.

Chadwell ABC applauded the fighters for their showing and wished Desmond the best of luck for the finals.
