GRAYS boxer Tey Lynn-Jones continued the perfect start to his boxing career with his first professional knock-out, and he is now looking to make a step up.

The 22-year-old was in total control as he saw off the challenge of Tommy Carter inside two rounds at Grays Civic Hall at the end of September.

Lynn-Jones had Carter on the canvas three times in the opening two rounds, with the latter unable to make the 10-second count at the third time of asking.

And Lynn-Jones said he is looking to get more rounds under his belt after taking his record to 5-0.

“I dominated from the off,” he said. “He was put down at end of first round and in the second he went down twice and he didn’t get up for the 10 count.

“It was pretty straight forward. I felt really good and so powerful before the fight so I would have liked it to go on longer in honesty.

“But I am making good strides forward. I am setting my feet more and it’s not just about scoring points. The quality of my punches was good and I knew they were causing damage.

“I am looking to make the step-up from six rounds to eight in the coming months as I want the experience.”

It was Lynn-Jones’ first knock-out after four straight points victories ahead of the bout. And he said he was pleased to secure the KO, in front of typically strong home support.

“It was my first knockout in the pro game and that was a good feeling,” he said. “I had good support as always and I gave them a knockout so there was no grief afterwards.

“I think they enjoyed it more than me as I felt a bit relieved afterwards!”

Lynn-Jones thanked sponsors Micky Norcross and The Sugar Hut, Oakfield Physiotherapy Clinic and Ronnie Johnson.
