EAST Thurrock United lost just their second match in eight games as they went down 2-1 at Margate in the National League South.

Rocks were looking to pick up from where they left off after their 6-0 demolition job at Truro but Margate were a tough proposition at Hartsdown Park.

Vas Karagiannis was looking lively for the hosts, but Lukas Lidakevicius was looking relatively untroubled in the away goal.

Reece Harris struck over with Rocks’ first attempt but Margate struck first, 10 minutes before half-time.

Karagiannis sent in a fine cross and Ryan Sammons could only head past Lidakevicius under pressure.

Early in the second-half, Lidakevicius made a fine save to keep the score at one and back came East Thurrock.

Michael Clark scored his second of the season on the hour mark as he bundled a ball in at the far post.

But they were only level for 10 minutes. Daniel Akindayini smashed the ball home to put the hosts ahead.

Both sides saw goals disallowed but it was to remain 2-1.

In the Ryman North, Tilbury earned a fine away win to get the better of Thamesmead Town.

Eli Beniot got the only goal of the match just before half-time to hand the Dockers the points.
