Bury Town 3 Aveley 0

In their final Ryman Division One North match of the season Aveley were outplayed in every department as Bury emerged comfortable winners at Ram Meadow.

Defeat meant Millers have gone 14 league matches without a win but they finish the league in 15th place after a good mid season.

Marc Palmer was again Millers' hero as he denied Bury on several ocassions.

Bury dominated from the off with Sam Reed crossing to the back post where James Tatham was ready and waiting but his header was well saved by Palmer.

The Blues soon took the lead after 13 minutes when Liam Francis lost the ball in the middle of the park with Craig Parker picking the ball up and marching clear of the defence. Palmer blocked the effort, only to see Parker stab the ball goal wards from the block into the path of Steve Bugg, who shot into an empty net from close range.

Aveley had an immediate chance to draw level when Jerreau McCarthy was brought down in the box by Bury keeper Sean Greygoose. McCarthy dusted himself down and took the penalty but Greygoose guessed the right way and saved the effort low down to his right.

Aveley then had Palmer to thank at the other end, as he got a hand to Bugg's lob shot and clawed it over the bar for a corner.

After the half time interval Bury immediately doubled their margin when Bugg's header goal wards was headed in from close range by Craig Parker. Minutes later Parker doubled his tally for the game when Lee Smith's free-kick wasn't cleared by the Millers' defence, and he tapped in from close range.

Bury continued to create chances and Parker could have earned himself the match ball but his free kick curled past the near post.

Palmer was again on hand to thwart the Bury frontline when from a through ball Bugg was one on one with the keeper but the keeper came out of his goal and blocked Bugg's effort.

The same two were again involved after 68 minutes and the same result occurred with Palmer blocking the shot.

The one and only Millers chance of the half came with one minute left of normal time when half time substitute Jake Gibson delivered deep into the box and Antony Aylett met the cross at the back post but his header was wide of the target.
