CHADWELL St Mary Boxer Klayden Russell-Mead has boxed his way through to the semi-finals of the Junior Cadet Championships to be held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
Russell-Meade, 14, a pupil at the Gateway Academy School, has beaten Newham boxer M Isiamell in the pre-quarters and J Coultas from Portsmouth in the quarter finals of the 46kg class to secure his place at the finals weekend.
Chadwell St Mary Boxing Club head coach Scot Johnston believes Russell-Meade has what it takes to win the overall competition.
He said: “His hard work and commitment to the local club is paying off as he has proven in each round of the competition with a display of fitness, good footwork and boxing skills.”
The local club, which has produced a finalist in championships every year for the last eight years, is in need of sponsorship. Anybody interested should contact chairperson Sindy Overy on 07427 958076.
