AFC Sudbury 0-3 Aveley

From King’s Marsh

AVELEY won their first away game since October to return to winning ways.

Justin Gardner’s side ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at AFC Sudbury to draw level on points with their opponents, after upsetting the odds to beat Chelmsford City of the Conference South last week.

Goals from Aryan Retkoceri, Marcus Elliott and Jack Stevenson ensured the win and they started well, Stevenson crossing for Kyle Asante who was well denied.

Sudbury looked dangers in patches and some late challenges frustrated the Aveley manager, with Sam Clarke shown a straight red card for a late tackle on Matty Bakare.

They went in front when Sammy Knott’s corner saw Billy Sendall’s effort blocked, only for Retkoceri to turn in the loose ball.

The hosts should have equalised when Ollie Berquez was denied by a diving James Marrable and they were made to regret that miss when the away side doubled their lead.

Ola streaked away and he crossed for Elliott to control and slot home.

Hassan Jollah had a chance for Aveley only for his effort to be tipped aside by Marcus Garnham.

Stevenson rounded off a good afternoon by curling a freekick into the corner.
