STANFORD 2nds 239-6
ARDLEIGH GREEN 2nds 212-10
CRICKET: STANFORD’s second string made it two wins on the bounce and their sixth win of the season to all but confirm Ardleigh Green's relegation to Division 3.
Having won the toss, skipper Andrew Robinson had no hesitation to bat first on a good flat wicket.
Despite a couple of early departures, Robert Page (126no) and Sachin Sewgobind (65) wasted no time in getting stuck into the home bowling attack.
The duo put on a superb third wicket stand of 140, which enabled Stanford to post a sizeable score and set Ardleigh 240 to win.
After tea Stanford’s bowlers set about putting Green’s batsmen under pressure and it wasn’t long before the home side found themselves in deep trouble at 64-6 thanks mainly to Matt Higgins (4-48) and Andrew Love (2-31) and backed up by some fine catches in the field.
The tail was then finished off by Sachin Sewgobind (3-15) and Jack Carter (1-9), to see Stanford home by 118 runs.
Ardleigh Green trousered two points.
