SEA ANGLING: Southend Pier: Rory Coase, of Southend Angling Centre, reports mostly undersize codling being taken.
Southend beaches: There are flounders to be had on peeler crab bait.
Barge Pier: Flounders and schoolies have been landed from the Shoebury pier.
Thamesmead: Eddie Sharp reports flounders galore, although they are of mixed sizes.
Erith: There are lots of flounders here too but most of them are large fish.
Herne Bay: Lots of roker are being caught off the beach, while there are codling and roker being taken at Sangate.
Gravesend: Graham from Dolphin Angling reports the first soles of the season being caught, plus flounders, whiting and codling.
Greenhythe: School bass and flounders have been landed.
Grays Wharf: Codling, flounders and pin whiting have been providing sport.
Dagenham Market: Eels have been the only fish caught.
Rainham: Anglers have landed eels and the occasional flounder.
River Crouch: Roker are being taken but not in numbers. The best catches are at the Wallasea end of the river.
River Roach: Fair numbers of flounders are being caught, along with a few decent eels, although most are bootlace ones.
Walton Pier: Richard Holgate reports skate, dogfish, codling and whiting being caught.
The Naze: Bass to 2lb have been caught on lugworm, ragworm and squid baits from Hipkins Beach.
Boats: All the codling in deeper water seem to have disappeared but anglers aboard charter and private vessels have been catching roker, dogfish and a few decent bass to 5lb.
