WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Southendian Ladies are through to the quarter-finals of the Essex County Women’s League Cup after a 3-0 win over Redbridge.
Southendian missed a couple of early chances but they took the lead in the 19th minute when Ellie Turner-Powell played in Sarah Petty, who rounded the goalkeeper before scoring.
The lead was doubled five minutes before half time when Petty’s cross was put into the penalty area by Shannon Mackie and Turner-Powell fired over the keeper.
And Turner-Powell completed her brace in the 66th minute when she netted from Tracy Rodd’s lay-off.
Southendian will face either Assandun Vikings or Island Girls at home in the last eight on Sunday, March 30.
