NON-LEAGUE: EAST Thurrock fell to a lacklustre 3-0 defeat against Essex rivals Hornchurch as their lack of firepower proved very costly.
Leon McKenzie had several chances to put the visitors ahead.
But John Coventry’s Rocks almost fell behind after one minute when only a brilliant save onto the post from Darren Behcet kept out AFC Hornchurch.
McKenzie then missed a hat-trick of chances, with one cleared off the line before Chris Bourne put the home side in front just before the break. With an hour played the match was as good as over with George Purcell scoring a quick-fire double and Hornchurch were unlucky not to add to their tally which will have Rookery Hill boss Coventry worried.
The sides meet again in the FA Cup this weekend.
East Thurrock: Behcet, Sammons, Stephen, Peddie, Sheehan, Dawson, Wanadio (Eagle), Thurgood, McKenzie, Bryant, Witherspoon.
