ESSEX SENIOR: Bowers & Pitsea’s disappointing year ended with them being consigned to the foot of the Essex Senior League table before being walloped 9-1 in the final of the league cup against Barkingside.
A 4-2 win for Clapton at London APSA in a delayed league match on Thursday saw them climb above John Doyle’s side and push Bowers to the foot of the table on Thursday evening.
And 24 hours they were destroyed by the division’s runners-up Barkingside in a one sided-cup final at the Rush Green Stadium in Romford.
Joe Ellul scored a hat-trick in Barkingside’s nine-goal haul, and Dale Gladden got a 52nd minute consolation goal for Bowers.
Thurrock reserves beat Canvey reserves 3-2 to win the Essex Senior League Reserve Shield yesterday.
