Folkestone Invicta 3, East Thurrock United 2
Rocks took three former Folkestone players back to the south coast on Monday as they sought to build on Saturday's Ryman Premier League win.
Ellis Remy, Walid Matata and Samuel Okikiolu all fled cash-strapped Folkestone to join Rocks and impressed against Staines but it was the home side that had the last laugh on Monday when Invicta dug deep and were well worth their win.
Invicta opened the scoring through Kevin Watson's penalty early in the match and Damian Abel's second put them in the driving seat.
East Thurrock produced a spirited recovery in the last ten minutes of the half, drawing level through James Bunn on 38 minutes and Scott Holding two minutes later.
The points were won by Steve Norman's second half goal and although Danny Harris hit the bar for Rocks, the result was a fair one.
