FOOTBALL: Grays Athletic secured a long-awaited Essex Senior Cup final berth following their recent 2-0 Semi-Final victory over Concord Rangers - and two of the clubs’ youth sides could set-up a rematch in the final of the Cordell Under 13s Cup if they make it through their own semis on Sunday 3 March.
With a new name to be etched on the silverware this season, the two South Essex teams could meet in the climax at Saffron Walden Town FC’s Catons Lane on Sunday 21st April should they progress beyond their last-four ties. In that competition’s latest pairings, Concord will travel to Billericay Town Colts (Blues) while Grays host Euro Dagenham.
The Essex Under 12s Cup is now into its sixth campaign, but it’s the first as a 9v9 competition. Playing for a place in the final at Leslie Field on 21st April - home of Burnham Ramblers FC - are Leigh Ramblers (Blues), who host Alemite Athletic (Reds), and Hutton (Clarets), who travel to either Little Oakley or Stanway Villa (Yellows) on 10th March.
Three Saturday Junior Trophy ties fell victim to the weather on 2nd February, with Old Barkabbeyans A the only side progressing to the penultimate round. Their reward is an away tie at either Basildon Athletic or Hutton A on 2nd March. In the other game, Dunmow Rhodes or Great Baddow Reserves face North Weald or Beacon Hill Rovers.
