WITH reference to your recent articles on the use of the spy car that Thurrock Council is about to let loose on the community.

As good as it is to stop fly-tipping and illegal parking, may I take this opportunity to suggest another equally important use for this vehicle – to stop irresponsible dog owners from fowling pavements and parks with their dog mess.

I live in Chadwell and every day there are new piles of dog’s mess to negotiate. The parks are littered with it and that stops me from taking my grandchildren on to the swings.

I have asked some of the offenders to clear up after their dogs and have been met with threats and abusive language.

I bet if the council asked the public to sponsor a spy vehicle to stop dog fowling they would be inundated with offers.

I have a licence and would be only too pleased to man one of these cars to deter these inconsiderate dog owners.

Most of this dog fowling goes on after dark so the owners know they have a free run and won’t be caught.

Residents in the borough have the right to have dog mess free pavements and parks. – ROBERT HEAD, Sabina Road, Chadwell St Mary.
