A TWO-YEAR-OLD girl was taken to hospital with head injuries after stepping off the pavement in front of a car.
The toddler was walking along Darenth Lane, in South Ockendon, when she collided with a Vauxhall Astra at about 5pm on Wednesday.
Police officers closed the road for about two hours to carry out an investigation.
An ambulance was called and the little girl was taken to Basildon Hospital.
Investigating officer PC Jim Worland is appealing for witnesses to call Laindon Road policing unit on 0300 3334444.
