Profile on Jackie Doyle-Price, Thurrock's new MP

Jackie Doyle-Price Jackie Doyle-Price

JACKIE Doyle-Price joined the Conservative party in 1986, and has held many roles within it since, including Constituency Chairman in South East London and on the national executive of the Conservative Graduates organisation in the 1990s.

She also worked as a press officer for the national party during the 1997 General election.

At the last General Election in 2005 Jackie fought in the Sheffield Hillsborough constituency, which is where she was born, but came third behind Labour and the Liberal Democrats.

Before giving up her job to focus on her campaign, Jackie worked as a consumer advocate within the Financial Services Authority.

Before that she worked as a senior adviser to the Lord Mayor of the City of London, the ambassador for all UK-based financial and professional services.

Outside of politics she enjoys listening to music, going to the theatre, reading and watching the soaps. She also enjoys collecting silver jewellery.

Jackie won the Thurrock seat with a majority of 92, polling 16,869 votes compared to Labour's Carl Morris' 16,777.

Jackie who? What a depressing result. Someone draft in who has not lived in Thurrock, does not understand the people or the issues we face. I predict a disaster.

Keynes, can't see how you can say it is daft because Jackie does not hail from Thurrock, although she is now actually a resident, think back to Mr MacKinlay who was born in North London (Wembley I believe) and lived in Surrey for his time in office never once living in the borough.

Maybe being from outside the borough they can bring a fresh perspective on things and not have any old hang ups, especially the sort Comrade Carl would bring.
As said MacKinlay wasn't from Thurrock.

Have you seen the sign on the Labour party office in Tilbury? It says MPs office temporarily closed open after elections. Perhaps someone should stick a new sign on it - under new management?
