YOUNG people in Thurrock are being asked for their views on transport issues.
Face-to-face consultations between the Thurrock Children’s Trust and young people highlighted transport as a barrier to accessing some leisure facilities so youngsters have been invited to fill out an on-line questionnaire.
Entitled Going Places, the consultation targets young people aged 11 to 19 and closes at the end of May.
Key questions examine how young people travel around the borough, where they go, where they would like to go and what, if anything, stops them from going there.
The results will be presented to the trust board in July.
Councillor Sue MacPherson, Thurrock Council’s Cabinet member for Children’s Services, said: “We've listened to young people and tried to improve the services on offer — we've extended the opening hours of the youth clubs and tried to get more businesses to offer work experience programmes, for example.
“Now we're looking at Thurrock's transport system. Does it go where young people want? Do they use it?
“Once we get the information, we will be in a better position to understand their needs and be able to look at ways of helping young people reach the wide range of facilities that are available for them.”
