A PROJECT to save West Thurrock marshes has been shortlisted for a conservation award.
WILDLIFE group, Buglife’s “Fighting to Save West Thurrock Marshes” project based in Peterborough has been shortlisted in the Conservation category of the Observer Ethical Awards.
The project competed against thousands of entries to feature in this year's shortlist.
The group are campaigning to save wildlife habitats for endangered species under threat from development on West Thurrock Marshes.
Buglife chief executive, Matt Shardlow, said: “We’re delighted that the Observer Ethical Awards has recognised the importance of bio-diversity conservation. The marshes really must be saved.”
The project was judged by a celebrity panel that included Jo Wood, Rick Edwards and Ken Livingstone.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on Wednesday June 3.
