A THURROCK actor is set to make his professional debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Scott Stevens, 21, of Blackthorn Road, Grays will appear with North West-based theatre company, “Sell A Door”.

Scott, whose stage name is Scott Weston, will be graduating from Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts in June.

He will be performing in two shows at the Fringe including Falsettoland, a musical, and a new musical, Six Ways written by David Hutchinson and Michael Bradly.

Former William Edwards School pupil, Scott, said: "This is the first time I have been to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I have seen much of the great work that has come down to Liverpool, having been premiered at the festival, and as such my interest in performing at the event has grown.”

Scott, who is cast as Jason, a Jewish New Yorker in Falsettoland, says it’s ironic since he was recently cast as Louis Ironson, also a Jewish New Yorker in Angels in America at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.

He said: “I never know why a boy with an Essex accent is so castable as a Jewish New Yorker, but hey I'm not complaining. The show goes up on August 7 and runs until the end of the Festival at George Square Venue."

Scott has recently signed up with a West End-based agent and has been commuting between Liverpool and London working with Anna Du Boisson and a young cast on their showcase production of Little Women in London.
