A CORRINGHAM dance club have triumphed for the second year running at annual championships.

Corringham Ceroc Dance Club, based at Corringham Village Hall, won gold at the Troxy in London on Sunday May 3.

The victorious “Rhythm of the Nights” Ceroc Team consisting of 14 adult dancers from Basildon, Grays, Corringham and Romford went to compete with the best in the Team Cabaret Section of the competition and were placed first by the panel of five judges.

“Rhythm of the Nights” was performed to a medley of music by the Danish Percussion Duo named Safri Duo.

The energetic performance was a mix of modern jive, cha cha cha and cheerleading stunts which involved Victoria Sutton from the team being thrown 25 feet into the air.

The routine was choreographed by husband and wife duo Karen and Glen Brooks who teach Ceroc every Friday night in Corringham.

Glen said: “I started Ceroc just over nine years ago when I was 21 and as soon as I attended my first class I knew that this was something I wanted to do well at and I became totally addicted.”

Ceroc is the organisation that teaches modern jive to adults in nearly every major town in Britain.

Over 18’s can attend Ceroc in Corringham every Friday at the Corringham Village Hall in Springhouse Road.
