THURROCK African Group (TAG) will be holding its first annual conference at the Thameside Theatre, Grays on Saturday January 17.
The conference will start at 10am.
TAG is a voluntary community organisation aimed at promoting the interest of African communities in Thurrock through information sharing, soliciting tolerance, developing projects and advocating for community cohesion with the wider Thurrock community.
The conference will be looking at the theme “Bridging Diversity: Problems, Challenges and Prospects”, with the aim to explore and address issues of; Education, Immigration, Community Safety, Health and Well-being, Business and Procurement, Faith and Spirituality and Youth Provisions and facilities.
Chair of TAG, Councillor Bukky Okunade, said: “This unique and exciting event is going to create an important opportunity for communication between local African communities and service provider organisations in the borough.”
Expected at the event are representatives from the Council, Primary Care Trust, Police, Enterprise Agency, Voluntary services, religious groups, and Thurrock MP, Andrew Mackinlay.
