THE Gateway Academy will be leading a week long creative visual arts project during October half term to twenty five school children in years six to 11.

The children from eight Excellence Cluster schools in Thurrock will take part in the project by Focal Point Gallery and a host of professional artists, video and sound editors from October 27 to 31.

It will provide an opportunity for the children involved to develop their interest and knowledge in visual arts, while learning new skills from the professionals involved.

In addition, they will be able to enjoy the new Gateway Academy building and work with its state of the art equipment.

Throughout the week the children will work in small supported groups to produce photographs and films to be exhibited and screened in a number of venues, including the Thameside Theatre in Grays.

The week promises to provide an exciting experience and an opportunity to develop further interest and skills within the Arts.

Those involved will also make new friends and enjoy working together at the Gateway site and other Thurrock locations chosen by the participants themselves.

It is envisaged that this project will develop further and future workshops which will be run to enable more young people and their families to participate within the Arts.
