TWO giant dogs have produced a monster litter.

When dog breeders Valda and Paul Walsh realised their massive pedigree French mastiff Echo was pregnant, they thought she would produce seven or eight pups.

So they were amazed when she delivered a whopping litter of sixteen.

Valda, 47, of South Ockendon, said: "We were stunned.

"We have been breeding dogs for 25 years and have never seen such a brood." The puppies have taken over a whole room with mum jealously guarding her brood.

Although the pups are tiny at the moment, they won't stay like that for long.

Paul, 43, said: "A fully grown French mastiff grows to 170lbs, up to 6ft tall and costs £100 a week to feed.

"We hope we don't have 18 that big in the house!

"We plan to find good homes for them."

However, his granddaughter Brooke, ten, said: "They are so lovely and cuddly.

"I want to keep them all."

Proud dad Saxon was keeping a low profile... taking a well-earned break in the doghouse.
