WITH reference to Jackie Doyle-Price’s column in last week’s Thurrock Gazette, I was particularly concerned when she said she had never witnessed such blatant dishonesty in 30 years of politics!

The sheer magnitude of this comment is beyond belief; I can certainly bring to her attention many particularly cases of dishonesty by the current government, if only in the last 10 years !

It is particularly significant that the column appears below the comment by editor Gary Pearson, and Tony Coughlin, who lead the campaign against this building proposal, both who are jubilant at its rejection.

Thurrock Independents have always considered any housing on greenbelt as a last resort, and while it is appreciated increased accommodation is required, all other possibilities, including brown belt, should be considered first.

If only it was the eventual decision by the planning committee that finally decided building proposals, but as she well knows, it is standard procedure to take a rejected decision and appeal against it, as has happened in this case, with developers hoping to profit by people who insist on having the maximum number of buildings constructed, regardless of the repercussions.

It is claimed that she doesn’t duck or avoid difficult decisions, well a particular decision, apart from housing, is the Lower Thames Crossing, the rejection of which is supported unanimously by all councillors of Thurrock Council.

Even the Basildon Conservative MP Stephen Metcalfe opposes this scheme.

The only person who supports it is Jackie DoylePrice!

Again a well presented letter by a constituent in Chadwell Saint Mary highlighted the pollution aspects, and after months of struggle it’s been an achievement that a full health impact assessment evaluation has finally been ordered.
