Volunteers in Thurrock were recognised this week at a special appreciation event hosted by the Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Barbara Rice.

The event, which took place on Monday 11 June, saw volunteers from across the borough come together to be recognised for their hard work and dedication to helping others.

The volunteers got the opportunity to visit the Mayor's Parlour at the Civic Offices, Grays and talk with the Mayor about the inspiring work they do across a range of council services including schools, children’s centres, libraries, youth services and the Thurrock Museum.

Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Barbara Rice, said: "It is a joy to host this special event and have the opportunity to meet with and talk to so many volunteers from all across the borough.

"Our volunteers are the true unsung heroes of Thurrock, supporting some of our most important services that so many residents rely upon. To be able to hear their stories and the pride they have for what they do is truly inspiring.

"Thank you to all our volunteers for their dedication to Thurrock and supporting great causes that make a difference to people’s lives."
